A smart move by Bhubaneswar Municipality to introduce painting of walls in the capital city has been well appreciated by masses. Commissioner Aprijita Sarangi has established a beutification drive in the temple city. A glimpse into the boundary walls reveals the rich culture and glorious past of the state.
The people of the State are known for their religious tolerance and cultural traditions. Temples and Buddhist monuments can be seen in numbers in and around the city. They attract a large number of tourists every year. The glorious past of Orissa can be exmplified with the stories of the sadhavas who used to travel long distance to operate their trade and commerce. All these find adequete illustrations in the paintings done by local artists on city walls.

The current painting drive in the city that envisages recurring effort every five years, is very helpful in teaching the new generation about our glorious past. It provides employment opportunities for local artists. There is also a permanent canvas painting at Satynagar which was painted by the school children on the events of children's day last year which showcase both modern and traditional culture of the State.
